Coming soon to downtown Chandler: The Brickyard Downtown
BY• FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2015
Downtown Chandler is getting an exciting new option for late-night dining and craft cocktails: The Brickyard Downtown plans to open in December.
The upscale and contemporary restaurant and bar will be located at 85 West Boston Street, right next to Vintage 95 (both pictured above). The space formerly housed an interior design store.
“I want to do something unique and different for downtown,” says co-owner Gavin Jacobs, who’s partnering with Elliott Hall, who owns the building and several others downtown.
Jacobs is quite familiar with downtown Chandler. He left House of Tricks after eight years to launch Vintage 95, where he was the general manager and a part-owner for three years. He sold his interest in Vintage 95 last year.
“The community is amazing, and that’s the reason I’m still here,” says Jacobs, who moved from Tempe to Chandler earlier this year. “I feel comfortable here. I want to help grow downtown.”
At just under 1,900 square feet, The Brickyard Downtown will be a cozy space with exposed brick walls, a 30-foot concrete bar, and indoor seating for about 70. Front and back patios will accommodate another 30 people.
The front “door” will be a roll-up garage door, allowing the sights and sounds of The Brickyard to spill out onto the sidewalk.
The dinner-only menu, Jacobs says, will be New American with Spanish influences. The focus will be on well-designed tapas and shareable dishes, with some entrees.
The bar will offer craft cocktails and craft beers, including 12 of the latter on tap. The wine program will be limited because of Jacobs’ non-compete agreement with Vintage 95.
“I don’t want to be competitive with anyone (already in downtown Chandler),” Jacobs says. “I want to bring more people down here.”
Planned hours are 3-11 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 3 p.m.-2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. The kitchen will stay open until 1 a.m. Thursdays through Saturday, Jacobs says.
“We hope to be open before Christmas,” he says. “That’s what I’m shooting for.”
